Description:

Bronze ewer, Persia, probably 14th C., cylindrical form, narrow conforming neck with handle and spout, verdigris patina, loss/damage including dents and handle seperating from body, 12" h. Note: A very similar, though more elaborately decorated, ewer is illustrated by P. Pal in Islamic Art: The Nasli M. Heeramaneck Collection, an exhibition catalogue from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art published in 1973, plate 304. The catalogue entry for exhibition #305 (not illustrated) notes the simplicity of form and the atypically completely plain body.
