Early 19th C. sampler, colored thread on linen, featuring cross-stitch and other techniques, top six lines depicting alphabet in different fonts and capitalizations, three rows describing the creator: "Eunice B. Coley sampler marked in the 12th year of her age born Feb. the 9th 1822," followed by two religious poems and ending in date and initials "July the 31st AD 1833, EBC," behind glass in naturally-finished frame, paper adhered to frame verso with highlighted section identifying Eunice's 1843 wedding to Henry B. Nichols of Weston, CT., expected wear including toning, minor staining and discoloration to linen, some color lifting and sporadic thread pulling, frame with surface scratching and sporadic chipping/nicking, ss: 15 1/2" h. x 9 1/2" w.
