Harold Friedlander (American, 20th C.), c. 1979-1982, modern sculpture, carved mottled green alabaster on black block pedestal, knot-like form of four rounded lobes, no visible signature, 11 1/4" h., block measures 3" h. x 14" w. x 8" d.; comes with gallery advertisement and newspaper provenance information, c. 1979. [Provenance: From Collection of Visual Images, Wellfleet, MA. Friedlander, a sculptor, and his wife Nancy, a painter, traveled extensively around Central and Latin American during the 1970s. The work of both artists was informed by their interest in Mayan iconography. Friedlander typically worked with alabaster and walnut.]
