POLICE MEMORIBILIA: Two early police leather belts with metal buckles: one c. 1880 New York City buckle, white metal with raised design of two figures at center with eagle in profile on shield, surrounded by laurel wreath, hand-written inscription verso "Morris, 4052", [plate identical to fig. 114 in "Plates and Buckles of the American Military", by Sydney C. Kerksis, 56 pages, 1974], clasp size: 2" h. x 2 3/4" w.; and a second belt with Police themed clasp, round white metal with raised "Police" at center , "X" design at top and sides with foliate motif between, makers mark verso to buckle "Gordon Clasp Co. Pat. Dec. 22. 99", clasp size: 2" h. x 2 1/4" w., both pieces with wear consistent with age and use including heavy loss to leather, sold as found.
